Francia’s Wound Care Journey: Healing Through UltraMist and Compassionate Care at Jovive
Francia has always enjoyed staying active. Living independently in California, she spends time with family, visits her brother’s ranch near Sacramento, and enjoys line dancing with friends.
While cleaning her shutters, she lost her balance and fell backward, striking the back of her head on the hard floor. The impact caused a deep scalp wound that continued bleeding. Hoping it would improve on its own, Francia waited a few days before seeking medical attention. Looking back, Francia admits waiting was a mistake.
When she arrived at the emergency room, doctors determined the injury was serious enough to require a three-day hospital stay. After being discharged, she was referred to Jovive Wound Care for specialized treatment.
The injury left Francia feeling frustrated, discouraged, and isolated. Activities she enjoyed suddenly felt out of reach, and the emotional impact of the accident proved just as challenging as the physical recovery.
Fortunately, regular visits to Jovive Wound Care gave her something positive to focus on. Francia attended appointments three times a week and never missed a visit. The routine, flexible scheduling, and supportive staff helped lift her spirits.
Although she worked with several providers and medical assistants throughout treatment, the experience always felt coordinated and seamless. Each member of the team understood her progress and treatment plan, giving her confidence that she was receiving the same high level of care on every visit.
As part of her treatment plan, Francia received advanced wound care that included dressings, debridement, and UltraMist therapy.
“The UltraMist was probably the best part of the treatment,” Francia said. “The gentle mist was incredibly soothing and made the healing process much more comfortable.” Introduced during the second week of treatment, UltraMist is a non-contact treatment that uses low-frequency ultrasound delivered through a gentle saline mist. The therapy helps cleanse the wound, support healing, and encourage healthy tissue growth without touching the wound itself.
After a slow start, Francia’s wound began closing quickly in the final weeks of treatment. Within two months, it had fully healed, and her primary care physician was pleased with the outcome.
For Francia, the experience was about more than healing a wound. She felt supported throughout her recovery and confident in the care she received. “I felt like I was in very good hands,” she said.
Now feeling more like herself, Francia is looking forward to returning to her normal routine and the line dancing she enjoys. What stayed with her most was the sense of being genuinely cared for throughout her recovery. “It’s kind of like the second best thing to having mom take care of you,” she said.
